Was habe ich mich gefreut, dass der Standventilator endlich eintraf. Ja da machte schon das Auspacken und zusammenbauen spaß. Die verpackung: Alle Teile schön einzeln eingepackt, leider unter Verwendung vieler Plastiktüten. Das ginge mit Papier viel Umweltfreundlicher. Das Zusammenbauen ging selbserklärend von statten, nur muss man(n) darauf achten, die Überurfmutter für den Standfuß und für den Schutzkorb am Motor wirklich fest anzuziehen. Der Schutzkorb wackelt sonst schlimm und macht Geräusche. So und nun noch den Motor an der Standsäule festschrauben, die Höhe einstellen: halt was ist das? Hält das wirklich? Die Feststellschraube hat gerade mal eine Umdrehung und das soll festhalten für länger? Na wir werden sehen. Dann den Ventilator anschließen, oh je, da muss man froh sein, dass das Kabel überhaupt bis zum Boden reicht, geschweige denn bis zu einer Steckdose: Also ohne Verlängerungskabel ist damit kein Anschluss möglich. 1,5m kabel ist dann doch etwas sehr viel Einsparung und das bei dem Preis? So und nun endlich einschalten: Der brüllt sofort mit voller Drehzahl los und das mit einer Lautstärke, das ist dann schon sehr gewöhnungsbedürftig: also wenn das 56 db sein sollen dann sollte man da was machen. Auch bei den kleineren Stufen ist der Ventilator immer noch sehr deutlich in allen Räumen zu vernehmen. Gut bei dieser Leistung muss man da bei der Lautstärke schon ein paar Abstriche machen, aber das Gräusch eines startenden Verkehrsflugzeugs? Blasen tut der Ventilator kräftig, das mekte ich sofort als das erste Bild von dem Wandhaken geweht wurde, also 6000m³ Luftumwälzung, das ist schon ein Wort. Bei den Temperaturen (draußen zwischen 38 °C und 40 °C) ist jede noch so kleine Briese willkommen. Nun der Ventilator macht sonst einen sehr wertigen Eindruck, der Fuß ist mit 8 Kg sehr schwer und den Ventilator haut so schnell nix um, auch bei der Größe des Fußes, denn was nutzt das Gewicht, wenn es auf der Fläche eines Stilettos steht, dann fällt es nur mit noch mehr Krach um. Also die Veranbeitung macht einen guten Eindruck, auch die witzige Propellernabe am Schutzkorb sieht irgendwie witig aus und vervollständigt das Bild. Die Sicherungsschraube am Schutzkorb unten ist mit dem beigelegten Inbus-Kreuz-Schraubendreher eher fummelig einzudrehen. Aber mit einem vernünftigen Philipsschraubendreher Größe 1 kein Problem, noch dazu, da ich die Mutter für den Korb am Motor nocht einmal nachziehen musste. Der Propeller lässt sich mit dem SchraubenDreher gut befestigen, auch wenn das Gewinde wie am Standfuß eher etwas kurz ausgefallen ist, bei 2mm Wandstärke der Verstäkungshülse kein Wunder. Also Fazit: Bis auf das sehr kurze Anschlusskabel und das schon sehr kräftige Betriebsgeräusch (bis zu 88dB im 1m in Blasrichtung gemessen) ist der Ventilator für den Preis in Ordnung. Einige Teile sehen aus wie aus Metall, sind aber dann doch nur aus lackierten Plastik. Warum nun der Korb auch lackiert wurde, entzieht sich meinem Verständnis, blanker verchromter Draht sähe bestimmt auch nicht schelcht aus. Daher leider nur 4 Sterne von 5.

I purchased this fan after having returned a fan from a cheaper local brand because it was poorly manufactured and the front grille would not attach correctly. The Charly Stand was the only other metal-body pedestal fan available among my local retailers, and it was priced slightly more than double the fan I returned. A metal body was important because I am looking for a durable and long lasting product, and plastics are easily destroyed under the harsh UV rays of the local sunlight. First impressions when assembling the fan was a generally more friendly assembly process using the plastic lockers for the base and rear grille attachments, only requiring a screw tool for attaching the fan blades (and one other part, to be explained later). The first issue I had was that the finger screws which are used for adjusting the height and fixing on the motor unit do not have much travel and easily fall out when unscrewing onto the stand base, potentially scratching it. Another issue is that the rear grille attaches in such a way that the carry handle is slightly to the side and not upright. The tip of the spindle was roughly covered in some scratched up blue coating, which was unsightly, but seemingly inconsequential. Attaching the front grille exposes the fact that the front and rear are not the same exact shape and that the wires of the grille do not line up front-to-back around the whole diameter; I was expecting a higher build quality on this fan considering the price premium, but in this particular regard it only bests the much cheaper fan by simply being able to be assembled. Now, one more serious concern I have is that the screw which is meant to fix the bottom grille clip is impossible to install because the grille wire is blocking even the slightest space to fit the screw vertically into the threading, let alone a screwdriver. I would like to know if this is a manufacturing fault or whether the fan was designed in this way. As far as my impressions now that the fan is running: - Feel of switch gear is good, if not exceptional. Speed switch is quite heavy--maybe it becomes lighter after some use. - When oscillation is switched off, the fan can be twisted on the oscillation axis without feeling like the fan is being broken, unlike most other fans I've used. - Air flow is very good. - Minimum speed setting is too powerful and thus too loud; it might be more difficult to sleep with this fan running in a bedroom compared to others. - Perhaps it is a placebo effect from the design or the fact it blows so much air, but the fan sounds a bit more like a plane propeller than a typical fan. This is amusing, but perhaps a little grating. - The base functional design is quite good and stable. - Matte grey design is quite functional since it won't reflect sun glare and won't show scratches, finger prints, etc., as well. - As far as looks go, so long as you don't look very close and notice the imperfections in the grille construction, the design is elegant enough in an unobtrusive way. The black power cord coming out of the motor unit is unsightly, but I understand it is troublesome to put the cord through the stand. I have given four stars because the product essentially works as I would have expected paying a price premium to the mainstream brands and I am pleased to have a product from a company that has actually created their own design and seems to care about it instead of taking a generic design and putting their brand on it. One star must be docked because of deficiencies in build quality and the unexpected loudness and high air flow of the lowest setting, and for the inability to totally assemble the unit (i.e. the final grille clip screw).
